Book nook 3D prints

5 designs, in the order I drew them.

For cozy-fantasy readers and late-night re-readers who want their shelves to glow. These are layered 3D-printable book nooks and lightboxes — small lit-up worlds that fit between books and turn a flat shelf corner into something worth looking at.

I draw these in my studio here in Sweden, working out how to get depth without a multi-day print. Most lean into the same 2D-art silhouette as the bookmark catalog, just layered up with spacers to build the diorama effect. The lightbox designs go a step further: LED strips behind translucent layers, the kind of glow that reads as warm rather than gimmicky.

For the shelf corner that needs help

If there's a specific spot on your shelf that's been feeling flat, this is where to start. The layered builds slot between books with enough space for light to filter through, and a 1m USB LED strip (sold separately) is all you need to bring the scene up.

The desert-planet lightbox was one of the first I made — a Tatooine-inspired corner piece with layered panels that catch the light right. It's the one I usually point to when someone asks what the layered style actually looks like in person.

For anime readers, the One Piece lightbox brings the Straw Hat energy to a shelf corner. The Monster Trio silhouettes — Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji — catch the light in a way that feels like an anime poster come to life.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 lightbox is for the western-saga readers who want a piece of the open range on their bookshelf. Iconic silhouettes against a layered backdrop, lit from behind.

How they print

Layered builds: printed panels stacked with spacers, then backlit with a 1m USB LED strip. Most designs need no supports and print clean as single-filament or AMS multicolor, depending on your setup.

Files live on MakerWorld for free. If you're selling at a craft fair or running a BookTok shop, the Patreon commercial tier covers printing for resale.
